When the weather was still warm a dear friend dropped off several large and perfect peaches! I set aside a couple for immediate eating pleasure and then peeled and sliced the rest for the freezer and future smoothies and a pie.
Pie day came. I made a single crust and mixed chopped peaches and a few red raspberries with sugar and cinnamon and touch of cardamom. I’ll let the images tell the rest…….
Cardamom – How I do love you. I opened the jar and drew in a deep breath. Can I sprinkle you in my laundry and on my pillows and toss you in my closets? May I wear a sack filled with your loveliness around my neck and lift you to my nose and breathe in deep whenever I want?
When I open your pods and empty out the delicious innards of your soul – my mouth waters and cannot wait to crush you and add you to my wassail and my shortbread.
You, O Cardamom, are God’s gift to mankind, well, at least to ME. And I am thankful for the opening of my senses whenever you are around.
