Another weekend is upon us, so for the fun side of me I will grace you with pictures from Preston, Idaho! I know you are excited. In the summer of 2005 my husband and I went to visit his mom in southern Idaho. She lived with her sister and the two of them were quite elderly at the time. We knew the following day would be just my husband and I without the older gals so we wanted to plan a fun time. We decided on a trip to some Native American sites and a Reservation. I have a tremendous love for Native Americans – have my whole life – and my husband shares that with me, given that he has a bit of Cherokee in him.
Well, here we were taking the girls shopping at the local Wal-Mart when all of our plans changed. I got to talking to the checker gal – as I usually do – and before you knew it we were going to Preston Idaho! It went something like this:
Me: Well, as Napoleon Dynamite would say………….
She: Oh! They say you can go to Preston and see where the movie was filmed.
Me: What?!? Pat! Wait! Tell me more! Pat!
She: I just know you can go and see it. It’s only a few hours away.
That was it for me. I love the quirky independent film, Napoleon Dynamite. I have no logical reasoning for loving it so much and watching it as many times as I have – or still do. I think one of things I love is that these young men had such a low-budget and BAM! They win! They make the bucks. It’s awesome. I love stories of the underdog winning in life and the movie is about that and the film makers also.
Now you either LOVE this movie or HATE it. I’m OK with that. I happen to love it and my whole family does. And I married the best guy in the world because he went along with my crazy plan and he had a great time. So, here we go:

“What are you gonna do today Napoleon?” (on the school bus)

THE High School!

It’s the tether ball pole! The tether ball pole!!! “Hey Summer, wanna play me?”

Look who I ran into! He is the nicest man. And you can understand him better in real life. And he is really a local farmer!

Thanks for joining me in this great experience! Have a great weekend. Enjoy!
